Overview

This position reports directly to the Capital Assets Manager and is responsible for the analysis of capital assets, including asset disposal and asset transfers, for the Health System and its independent support organizations. The role also involves reviewing and analyzing the finances of all Health System capital projects and serving as a resource to review and answer questions about pending projects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely recognition of asset disposals according to internal policy, requiring signed documentation to support disposals.
  • Accurately determine the type of disposal such as gain, loss, or scrap.
  • Ensure proper recording of asset transfers within the organization, coordinating among departments and markets with signed documentation and relevant information for general ledger and subledger entries.
  • Maintain regular communication with division managers and departments to ensure compliance with policy on capitalizing assets and projects.
  • Review projects in the planning stage to ensure formal review and budgeting in the correct account.
  • Interact with project managers in Construction and Design and other regions.
  • Serve as a resource to review and answer questions about pending projects.
  • Summarize and organize workpapers on a consolidated basis and by market and/or facility as needed.
  • Support and tick mark balances and transaction details with appropriate documentation.
  • Assist with the year-end audit, submitting workpapers within timelines and working with external auditors to provide additional support.
  • Assist with compiling footnotes and coordinate with other general ledger team members in analyzing account balances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in accounting, business, audit, or finance.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Hospital or healthcare-based work experience.
  • MBA, MHA, CHFP, or CPA designation is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat is a plus.
