Overview
This role involves working as an Accountant focused on Cash and Accounts Receivable Valuation. The position reports directly to the Cash and Accounts Receivable Valuation Manager and requires analyzing various aspects of restricted cash, net position, investments (both restricted and unrestricted), net asset reconciliation, and other ancillary accounts related to patient accounts receivable. This includes reviewing transactions in unapplied accounts, suspense accounts, returned checks, and grant payments on a monthly and annual basis.
Responsibilities
- Analyze restricted cash and net position
- Reconcile restricted and unrestricted investments
- Perform net asset reconciliation
- Reconcile ancillary accounts associated with patient accounts receivable
- Review transactions in unapplied accounts, suspense accounts, returned checks, and grant payments
- Complete monthly and annual reconciliations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field
- 0 to 2 years of work experience in accounting, business, audit, or finance
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Outlook
- Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Experience in hospital or healthcare accounting
- Advanced degrees or certifications such as MBA, MHA, CHFP, or CPA are advantageous
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, and walking (frequent)
- Ability to climb stairs, work outdoors in all weather conditions, work in confined spaces, kneel, bend, squat, and perform pinching operations (infrequent)
- Continuous use of both hands/arms and legs
- Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders
- Ability to reach in all directions and maintain good finger dexterity
- Ability to lift and carry up to 15 lbs unassisted (infrequent)
- Visual acuity including 20/40 vision (corrected), color discrimination, depth perception, and peripheral vision
- Hearing acuity with correction
- Ability to work in a latex-safe environment
- Ability to handle stressful situations effectively
