Overview

This role supports corporate accounting for a multi-branch generator services organization with locations across the United States. The Corporate Accountant will contribute to the general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting, while also helping integrate acquisitions through purchase accounting and opening balance sheet reconciliations. The position also strengthens accounting processes and internal controls as the organization grows.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and other required or ad hoc financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Own and drive the monthly general ledger close process, including account reconciliations and preparation and posting of journal entries.
  • Incorporate close process improvements using FloQast and other tools.
  • Perform monthly variance analysis (actual vs. budget) and review material variances with the Accounting Manager and CFO; investigate discrepancies by coordinating with relevant departments.
  • Evaluate accounting systems and procedures; recommend and implement improvements to strengthen internal controls and increase efficiency.
  • Support management by clarifying expense-related issues and ensuring proper treatment of transactions.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors during annual and interim audits.
  • Prepare and file sales tax returns for multiple states and ensure timely compliance.
  • Support purchase accounting and other M&A activities, including building out accounting systems and preparing opening balance sheet reconciliations for new acquisitions.
  • Support accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, including research for adjustments and invoice review.
  • Support annual compliance processes, including business licenses and annual reports.
  • Maintain accurate vendor and customer master data within the accounting system.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, company policies, and internal control requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-branch/multi-division organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • CPA or active pursuit of CPA licensure preferred.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including advanced Excel skills; data analytics certificates/experience is a plus.
  • Experience with NetSuite, Avalara, Sage 100, QuickBooks, and Salesforce is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and an entrepreneurial mindset; able to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
