Overview
This full-time Accountant position involves assisting in the development and maintenance of accurate financial information for assigned areas of the general ledger. Responsibilities include general ledger account analysis, reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements for the Regional Health Ministry and Market Record to Report shared services area. The role requires problem-solving skills related to healthcare financial operations and knowledge of external, regulatory, payor, and other forces impacting healthcare finance, including US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), IRS regulations, and other reporting requirements. Staying current with industry developments and standards is expected.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with leaders across health ministries, service areas, and related entities while maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist management with internal and external audits, including reviews of financial records and statements, audit requirements for federal awards (Uniform Guidance/Single Audit), and other specific audit requirements.
- Implement audit recommendations timely within areas of responsibility.
- Assist in preparation of annual 990 and other tax returns, supporting community benefit reporting.
- Prepare sales and use tax reports, local personal property tax reports, annual escheatment of unclaimed property reports, mandatory government surveys, and other assigned reports.
- Complete special projects, financial analyses, and research as assigned.
- Prepare monthly accounting entries with supporting documentation for input into the general ledger system (PeopleSoft or current system) according to established timelines.
- Reconcile, analyze, and adjust general ledger accounts within established timelines.
- Ensure detailed support for workpaper reconciliations.
- Assist with year-end financial reporting packages, audit work papers, and financial statement footnote disclosures.
- Obtain appropriate supporting documentation for audit schedules.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
- Knowledge of US GAAP and experience conducting financial analysis, including researching and analyzing accounting issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of accounting experience preferred.
- Healthcare industry experience is preferred.
- Experience with various computer accounting systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay range: $24.53 - $36.80
