Accountant (V)

• Contract length: 8 months
• Location: San Francisco, California (Remote)

This role involves maintaining cost accounting calculations and processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) accuracy, assist with system implementations, and prepare financial reports for management.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cost accounting calculations and processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy in inventory balances and COGS, including resolving inventory discrepancies.
• Perform standard cost review quarterly and work closely with the Operations team to review changes and impacts.
• Perform reconciliations between 3PL, vendor shipments, and analyze goods in transit.
• Support Inventory management system implementation, including testing and process design.
• Assist in developing and maintaining cost accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
• Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned areas during month-end close.
• Review financial statements for assigned areas, provide fluctuation analysis, and present findings to senior management.
• Analyze and report on product costs, COGS, margins, and profitability.
• Assist the FP&A team with preparing financial reports for senior management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand process issues and implement improvements for accurate inventory valuation.
• Lead quarter and year-end audits and reviews to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls; oversee the cycle count process.

Requirements

• Experience maintaining cost accounting calculations and processes.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accuracy in inventory valuation and COGS.
• Experience preparing monthly journal entries and performing account reconciliations during month-end close.
• Experience preparing fluctuation analysis and presenting to senior management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with standard cost review processes.
• Experience supporting inventory management system implementation, testing, and process design.
• Experience leading audits and reviews related to accounting standards and internal controls.
