Overview

This Accountant applies accounting knowledge to ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable accounting policies. Responsibilities include preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, analyzing results, and identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.

This role supports periodic financial reporting and collaborates with Operations, IT, and Finance to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. The Accountant also assists with internal and external audits by providing analyses, documentation, and other accounting support as needed.

Responsibilities

Accounting Close (40%)

  • Prepare and record journal entries in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Compile, analyze, and validate financial data to support accurate and timely accounting close.
  • Prepare and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting requirements.

Financial Transaction Processes (30%)

  • Record, validate, and maintain accounting transactions in the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Monitor transaction activity, validate system interfaces, and research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Process and support billing, collections, account reclassifications, and other accounting transactions as assigned.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation supporting accounting transactions, processes, and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems, and assist with implementing enhancements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.

Audit (20%)

  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting schedules, account reconciliations, fluctuation analyses, and requested documentation.
  • Compile, maintain, and substantiate financial transactions with appropriate supporting records and audit evidence.
  • Respond to auditor inquiries and support the timely completion of audit activities.
  • Assist with J-SOX testing, documentation, and compliance activities to support internal control requirements.

Financial Reporting, Analysis & Operational Support (10%)

  • Prepare accurate, timely, and relevant financial information, reports, and analyses to support business and accounting requirements.
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial reporting, analysis, and special projects as needed.
  • Adhere to established internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity.
  • Participate in cross-training initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support departmental objectives and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain current professional and technical knowledge through continuing education, training, and development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Accounting experience required.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Accounting Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Business Administration/Management Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Economics Preferred
  • An equivalent mix of education, training, and/or work experience may be considered in place of a degree Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting practices, and financial reporting requirements required (Awareness-Developing).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including the use of formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting tools required (Developing-Intermediate).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and communicate financial information clearly required (Developing-Intermediate).
  • Ability to document processes, identify improvement opportunities, and support continuous process enhancements required (Developing-Intermediate).
  • Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities, organize workload, and meet deadlines required (Developing-Intermediate).
  • Ability to prepare, analyze, and reconcile financial data with accuracy and attention to detail required (Developing-Intermediate).
  • Knowledge of accounting systems; SAP experience preferred (Awareness-Developing).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Range: $62,000.00 - $89,825.00

Salary to be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
