Overview
A leading technology platform supporting dispensary operations and facilitating safe access to cannabis is seeking an Accounting Manager. The platform serves thousands of dispensaries across over 40 markets in the U.S. and Canada, focusing on advancing wellness benefits, social justice, and empowering local communities through tax revenue. Responsibilities
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes in compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Maintain chart of accounts and ensure correct classification of financial transactions
- Review and prepare general ledger journal entries including accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, cash, and inventory
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve variances
- Oversee accounts payable, ensuring timely invoice processing and vendor payments
- Prepare technical accounting assessments and memos
- Assist in preparation of internal financial statements and management reports
- Coordinate with external auditors during year-end audits
- Develop and maintain internal controls over accounting processes and systems
- Identify and implement improvements, including AI-driven optimizations, to enhance accounting operations
- Manage corporate credit card programs and ensure expense reporting compliance
- Serve as a key contact for financial system maintenance and improvements
- Provide financial support to operational teams with budget variance analysis
- Execute ad hoc accounting projects and analyses as requested by senior leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA designation strongly preferred
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in management or senior roles
- Experience in Big 4 accounting firms, large public companies, or fast-paced technology, SaaS, or startup environments
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial modeling
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment
Compensation & Benefits
- Target On-Target Earnings (OTE) ranging from $111,000 to $149,000 depending on role level
