Overview

This role owns the monthly close, consolidation, and external reporting cycle for a well-funded technology organization. Responsibilities span journal entries and flux analysis through delivery of US GAAP-compliant financial statements on a tight, repeatable cadence.

The position is hands-on management with ownership over ASC 606 and ASC 842 compliance, coordination of SOX 404 control testing with internal and external auditors, and process scaling as the business grows. Accurate, timely financials support board reporting, audit readiness, and strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close across US GAAP, delivering accurate financial statements within 5 business days
  • Prepare and review technical accounting memos for:
    • Revenue recognition (ASC 606)
    • Leases (ASC 842)
    • Stock-based compensation (ASC 718)
    • Capitalized software
  • Manage SOX 404 compliance:
    • Document key controls
    • Coordinate walkthroughs and testing
    • Remediate deficiencies with internal audit and external auditors
  • Oversee the general ledger, reconciliations, and flux/variance analysis in NetSuite (or similar ERP)
  • Drive automation to reduce close timeline
  • Partner with FP&A, payroll, and AP/AR to ensure accurate accruals, intercompany eliminations, and consolidations
  • Support SEC-readiness workstreams:
    • Draft footnote disclosures
    • Coordinate interim reviews and annual audits
    • Manage audit PBC requests
  • Mentor and develop staff and senior accountants, including hiring and performance management for the close team

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) plus industry close ownership
  • CPA active or in good standing
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, especially ASC 606, ASC 842, and ASC 350
  • Hands-on SOX 404 experience from the control-owner side
  • Advanced ERP experience (NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP), including close management tools such as FloQast or BlackLine
  • Strong Excel and data-analysis skills, including comfort reviewing large reconciliations and tracing issues to source systems
  • Proven experience improving close efficiency and leading audit cycles with clean outcomes
  • BS in Accounting or Finance required

Preferred Qualifications

  • SEC reporting experience
  • SaaS/technology industry background
  • IPO or SPAC-readiness exposure
  • Multi-entity consolidation experience
