Overview
A well-established heavy civil construction firm headquartered in Houston, TX, with a history of delivering over $2.8 billion in infrastructure projects across the Southern United States, is seeking an Accounts Payable Manager. The organization specializes in highways, bridges, water systems, and large-scale site development projects.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, approvals, and payment execution
- Ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors, subcontractors, and service providers
- Maintain and strengthen vendor relationships by resolving discrepancies and payment issues efficiently
- Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Review and approve high-value or complex invoices and payment batches
- Coordinate with procurement and project teams to validate contract terms, pricing, and payment schedules
- Reconcile vendor statements and ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping
- Support month-end and year-end close processes related to accounts payable
- Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
- Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable processes, systems, and efficiencies
- Lead, train, and mentor accounts payable staff
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, invoice management, and payment controls
- Experience with accounting systems and ERP platforms
- Solid understanding of financial controls and compliance requirements
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for vendor and internal coordination
- Proven leadership experience managing or supervising accounts payable teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Experience in construction, infrastructure, or project-based industries is a plus
