Overview
This Accounts Payable Specialist role requires candidates to be located near Chattanooga, TN, and available to work onsite weekly as part of a hybrid schedule. It is not a fully remote position.
The specialist will be responsible for managing payments and controlling expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices. Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of information in the general ledger is a key part of this role.
Responsibilities
- Charge expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice and expense reports; recording bills
- Pay vendors by monitoring discount opportunities, verifying federal ID numbers, scheduling and preparing payments
- Resolve discrepancies related to purchase orders, contracts, invoices, or payments and maintain proper documentation
- Ensure credit is received for outstanding memos and issue purchase order amendments as needed
- Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions
- Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payments
- Ensure all bills are approved by management before processing payments
- Maintain historical records in NetSuite
- Ensure timely filing and payment of all sales tax transactions
- Maintain confidentiality to protect the organization's value
- Complete special analyses and reports as assigned
- Perform other duties as required by management
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts payable
- Experience with ERP systems
- Strong knowledge of desktop applications and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clearly, articulate ideas, listen effectively, and ask questions
- Good interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with NetSuite is strongly preferred
Compensation
- Hourly rate: $20.00 to $25.00 per hour
