Overview
A healthcare organization in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a Remote Accounts Receivable Specialist I. This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in the Hampton Roads area.
The Accounts Receivable Specialist I will manage day-to-day accounts receivable operations, ensuring accurate and timely collection of payments from consumers, insurance companies, and other payers. The role involves resolving billing issues, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accurate transaction records to support financial health and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage accounts receivable accounts, ensuring accurate billing and timely payment collection
- Review and process insurance claims, verifying patient information and coding accuracy
- Communicate with insurance providers, patients, and internal teams to resolve payment discrepancies
- Perform account reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and apply appropriate payments or adjustments
- Maintain patient account balances, assist with follow-up on unpaid claims, and issue statements as needed
- Ensure adherence to healthcare billing regulations and policies
- Assist with month-end closing activities and financial reporting
- Collaborate with billing, coding, and customer service departments to streamline accounts receivable processes
- Address and resolve patient or insurance inquiries related to billing and payment issues
Requirements
- High School Diploma (required)
- Minimum of 1 year healthcare experience (required)
- Prior accounts receivable experience (preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
- Solid understanding of healthcare billing practices and payer systems
