Overview
A growing organization is seeking a self-driven and competent Accounts Receivable/Collection Specialist. This role focuses on contacting clients to collect missed or outstanding payments and negotiating contract settlements.
Responsibilities
- Monitor daily portfolio of accounts to identify outstanding receivables
- Investigate historical debt and billing data and take action to encourage timely payments
- Process payments, credits, and refunds
- Research and respond to customer inquiries related to billing
- Reconcile accounts for billing and cash application; resolve customer credit issues
- Contact customers via phone and email regarding overdue balances and collect payments
- Negotiate payment plans within approved guidelines
- Update account status records and maintain accurate notes on customer records
- Prepare and present reports on collection activities and progress
- Contact customers with declined credit cards and respond to ACH chargebacks within bank timeframes
- Answer incoming calls and respond to voicemails promptly
- Manage internal requests and daily email inboxes (personal and group)
- Assist customers with cancellation processes to settle contract balances
- Review accounts that have filed for bankruptcy
- Collaborate with third-party collections agencies and submit delinquent accounts
- Escalate issues requiring additional review
- Perform other projects and tasks as assigned
Requirements
- 2 to 3 years of experience in Collections and Accounts Receivable
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
- High integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness
- Excellent client interfacing skills and ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Self-motivated with a high capacity to learn and adapt
