Overview

This role supports the Commercial Finance function for the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) business, helping standardize and enhance financial reporting and analysis across multiple CPG practices. The work includes improving reporting efficiency, uncovering business insights, and shifting from historical reporting to more forward-looking analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain standardized reporting packages across multiple CPG practices, using automation to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and ensure data accuracy.
  • Support standardization of financial reporting, revenue reviews, and analytical processes across the CPG organization.
  • Perform variance analysis and root cause investigations across revenue, expenses, and headcount to identify key business drivers and support business decision-making.
  • Partner with Commercial Finance leaders to analyze business performance, identify trends, and deliver meaningful financial insights.
  • Serve as a pilot user for new reporting, AI, and automation tools, identifying opportunities to streamline recurring analysis and reporting activities.
  • Partner with Accounting to identify, track, and resolve variances between reporting systems, ensuring alignment between financial and management reporting.
  • Support headcount planning, revenue reporting, month-end financial packages, and ad hoc analyses aligned to business priorities.
  • Assist in the development of business cases and support strategic reporting initiatives, including Complete Food and Complete Beauty programs.
  • Support rollout and adoption of new reporting tools, templates, and standardized processes across CPG practices, including documentation and user training.
  • Assist with account transfer validation activities to ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper financial alignment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in finance, FP&A, commercial finance, revenue analytics, or reporting.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency required, including experience with complex formulas, Power Query, large datasets, reporting automation, and financial analysis.
  • Experience developing or automating recurring reporting using tools such as Power Query, Power BI, Excel add-ins, or similar workflow automation solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate variances, identify underlying business drivers, and translate findings into actionable business insights.
  • Experience working with large datasets to analyze trends, support decision-making, and improve reporting processes.
  • Ability to create, document, and standardize reporting processes that improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across teams.
  • Comfort leveraging modern productivity tools, including Microsoft Copilot and AI assistants, to streamline analysis, reporting, and documentation while maintaining strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and develop practical solutions to business challenges.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively across Finance, Accounting, and Commercial teams.
  • Self-starter with intellectual curiosity, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Workday Adaptive Planning experience is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $70,000 - $75,000 USD.
  • Benefits include paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) for eligible employees.

Actual pay will be based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

  • Strong preference for the Greater Chicago area and willingness to work within the Central Time Zone.
