Overview
This role involves supporting project finance activities and strategic financial modeling for solar and energy storage projects. The position includes creating and updating complex financial models, assisting with transaction closings, and ensuring compliance with financial documentation. Preference is given to candidates located in or willing to relocate to Boise, Idaho, or New York.
Responsibilities
- Analyze potential capital projects using long-term forecast models and valuation techniques such as IRR and NPV.
- Assist with due diligence, review, and analysis of prospective financings.
- Perform complex financial modeling including valuations, budgets, and evaluation of debt and tax equity structures.
- Prepare and update HBLV and tracking models, analytical packages, and group KPIs.
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of all financial data within models.
- Provide scenario planning and communicate results related to PPA, capital investments, and financing structures.
- Collaborate with individual departments and cross-functionally within the organization.
- Maintain project timelines and deliverables with organizational excellence.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, energy/environmental studies, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience in capital markets, project finance, tax equity structures, or investment banking within the renewable energy industry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn company-specific software and tools.
- Ability to build and interpret project finance models in Excel, including cash flow projections, IRR, NPV, and sensitivity analysis.
- Understanding of key metrics such as Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE), capacity factors, and PPA structures.
- Advanced Excel skills (functions, pivot tables) and familiarity with financial software or BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Strong analytical curiosity and ability to question assumptions.
- Adaptability to shifting priorities and quick learning of new tools.
- Clear and structured communication skills to explain financial data and logic simply.
