Overview
This role involves managing the intersection of payroll, accounts payable, and operational finance for a large delivery-first restaurant group operating across multiple states. The position requires ownership of the end-to-end payroll cycle, accounts payable functions, and compliance tracking for business licenses and permits.
Responsibilities
- Manage multi-state payroll cycles, ensuring accurate wage calculations, tax withholdings, and compliance across 8+ states including CA, TX, FL, GA, CO, IL, NJ, VA, and others
- Oversee the full accounts payable cycle: vendor onboarding, invoice processing, payment runs, and reconciliations
- Track and maintain compliance for all kitchen locations, including business licenses, health permits, food handler certifications, sales tax registrations, and other regulatory obligations
- Handle payroll tax filings and registrations as the business expands into new states
- Develop and maintain spreadsheet-based tools and trackers for payroll costs, accounts payable aging, vendor spend, and compliance status
- Reconcile payroll and accounts payable accounts during monthly close, collaborating with the accounting team on accruals and adjustments
- Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements to scale systems with business growth
- Respond accurately and thoughtfully to employee payroll inquiries
Requirements
- 2 to 4 years of experience in payroll, accounts payable, accounting, or a related analytical role
- Proficient in Excel or Google Sheets, including building models, using pivot tables, lookups, and handling large datasets
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail to avoid payroll errors, missed invoices, and lapsed permits
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Strong communication skills to explain financial and operational topics clearly to non-finance colleagues
- Demonstrated ownership, initiative, and ability to learn quickly and take on new challenges
- Interest in operational roles with direct impact on business operations
- Degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $75,000 - $95,000
