Overview
The organization is seeking a US Assistant Accounting Manager to support the Accounting Manager in overseeing the accounting operations of multiple US entities. This role provides hands-on accounting leadership across a multi-entity structure that includes several recently acquired businesses.
The Assistant Accounting Manager will help drive acquisition integration, own key balance sheet reconciliations and schedules, support audit and compliance requirements, and contribute to system enhancement and process optimization initiatives. The role also includes developing and mentoring Staff and Senior Accountants.
Responsibilities
- Support the Accounting Manager in day-to-day accounting operations across multiple US entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial close.
- Support integration requirements from recent acquisitions, including onboarding acquired entities into accounting processes, chart of accounts, and reporting structures.
- Support audit and ongoing compliance requirements, serving as a key contributor to external audit requests, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Own balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules for specific balance sheet line items, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation.
- Drive system enhancement and optimization projects by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and data integrity within accounting systems and processes.
- Develop and mentor Staff and Senior Accountants through coaching, review, and mentorship; partner closely with related teams (e.g., Treasury & AP).
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account analyses in accordance with US GAAP.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reporting.
- Partner cross-functionally with other Finance and business teams to support accurate financial reporting and informed decision-making.
Requirements
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a multi-entity environment.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial close processes.
- Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and account schedules.
- Demonstrated experience supporting audits and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Preferred
- CPA or CPA candidate.
- Experience supporting acquisition integration and post-close accounting activities.
- Experience with system implementations, enhancements, or accounting process optimization projects (SAGE Intaact a plus).
- Prior experience mentoring or developing junior accounting staff.
- Experience in a private-equity-backed or high-growth company environment.
