Overview
An organization is seeking an Associate Director, Tax to join their Finance team. This role involves leading income tax compliance, including tax provisions under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and statutory reporting, as well as managing federal, state, and local tax returns, tax planning, and related projects. The Associate Director, Tax will support the Tax leadership team in developing departmental strategy and report to the Senior Director, Tax.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $180,504 - $236,911 per year

Responsibilities
- Manage annual and quarterly tax GAAP and statutory tax provision processes
- Lead internal and external relationships necessary to support tax provision processes
- Review U.S. federal, state, and local tax returns and estimates for corporate holding companies and insurance subsidiaries
- Manage relationships with external consultants related to tax returns
- Ensure integrity of tax accounting and compliance results using technology solutions, collaborating with Finance Transformation and external vendors
- Manage tax responses to audits and notices, including correspondence with internal and external parties
- Ensure compliance with indirect tax functions
- Prepare financial data and analysis to support tax forecasting and projects
- Partner with Finance and business areas to address tax issues and meet organizational goals
- Stay informed and educate others on developments in insurance tax and their potential impact
- Develop and implement tax strategies and planning opportunities
- Automate processes to improve tax compliance and provide analytical insights
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or 4 years of commensurate experience
- Minimum 7 years of tax experience in a public accounting firm or equivalent corporate tax department experience
- Proficient in using tax codes and regulations
- Strong knowledge of ASC 740
- At least 3 years of experience as a team leader
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Master's degree in Taxation
- Experience with Statement of Statutory Accounting Principle (SSAP) 101 reporting
- Knowledge of domestic tax issues affecting U.S. insurance companies
- Experience implementing tax provision software
- Ability to work with large datasets to build models and leverage analytical tools
- Experience with state tax nexus considerations
