Overview

This full-time role involves supporting the administration of employee benefits and payroll functions to ensure accurate processing, compliance, and a positive employee experience. The Benefits & Payroll Specialist acts as a key resource for benefits support, payroll coordination, employee lifecycle transactions, and leave administration. The position requires close collaboration with HR, payroll teams, and external vendors to maintain accurate records, resolve employee inquiries, and provide timely, detail-oriented support across HRIS, payroll, and benefits systems while handling sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Support a variety of employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, 401(k), flexible spending accounts, and wellness initiatives
  • Assist with payroll and timekeeping functions such as Hours Worked files, 401(k) and Transportation FSA uploads, HSA enrollments, and workers’ compensation claims
  • Coordinate employee lifecycle transactions including offboarding, terminations, separation paperwork, base pay and title changes, and system updates
  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting employees with benefits inquiries, enrollment, and issue resolution
  • Manage Leave of Absence intake and coordination, including pay administration and return to work tracking; support wellbeing programs
  • Maintain accurate employee records across HRIS, payroll, and benefits systems
  • Prepare and deliver benefits-related communications, presentations, and training sessions to employees
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve issues, ensure compliance, and deliver timely, accurate employee support

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2–3 years of experience in benefits administration, payroll support, or related HR role
  • Strong attention to detail and high accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Strong time management skills and ability to multitask
  • Experience handling confidential employee information in a sensitive environment
  • Familiarity with Paylocity and/or Bswift benefits platforms preferred
