Billing Representative

Overview

This full-time Billing Representative position supports patient accounts within a clinical practice management plan. The role is based in East Setauket, NY, with potential eligibility for remote work at the manager’s discretion. Applicants must be residents of New York State.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Pay Range: $23.00 - $28.74 per hour, dependent on experience and education.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reconsiderations to payers.
• Process payer rejections.
• Review payer payments.
• Complete special department and physician projects.
• Prepare billing error corrections, refunds, and itemized bills for patients and attorneys.
• Interact with third-party payers to verify reimbursement benefits and claim status.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of two years of medical billing experience in a physician’s office or graduation from a medical billing program.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Computer literacy with knowledge of medical insurance policies, reimbursement processes, and medical terminology.
• Experience using insurance websites.

Physical Demands

This position is primarily sedentary, requiring the employee to remain stationary for most of the day. Regular communication with patients, staff, and medical providers is essential, necessitating the ability to exchange accurate information effectively. Additional physical demands will be communicated by management as needed.
