Overview
The organization is seeking a Billing Specialist to join the team in Duluth or Minneapolis, MN. Hybrid and remote work options are available.
This role supports billing operations within the Unanet system, performing accounting tasks related to maintaining and processing accounts receivable records and client invoices. Responsibilities also include reporting on project financial metrics derived from revenue recognition analysis, and partnering with project teams across departments to support project performance and collections status.
Responsibilities
- Generate customer invoices based on agreed-upon pricing and terms, ensuring invoices are accurate and complete and include all required supporting documentation
- Identify and suggest improvements to collections efficiency and optimization by building strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders to support timely billing and payment
- Assist with project coordination from Job Number Request (JNR) and Work Order (WO) processing through closeout
- Perform unbilled revenue analysis against Project Manager progress reports and project proposals in support of weekly and monthly revenue recognition
- Collaborate with Billing Specialist II and Project Managers on forecasting activities, including monthly Estimate to Complete (ETC/FTC), Sales Funnel, and Backlog data
- Prepare the project margin analysis report
- Collaborate with Project Managers to track and analyze cost and schedule information for inclusion in project status reports
- Interface with clients to support collections, status updates, and ad hoc reporting requests
- Perform assigned account reconciliations in support of month-end accounting close
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Adobe, and PowerBI
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other departments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail

- Anticipated hourly range: $24 – $30 (actual starting salary determined based on skills, experience, and office/market location)
