Overview
This role owns the global Billings (Order-to-Cash) function for a growing private equity-backed SaaS business with around 5,000 customers. You’ll lead global billing accuracy, contract setup, collections, and cash application across five countries, partnering closely with Finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Own high-volume global billing, invoicing, contract setup, collections, and cash application across multiple entities and currencies using NetSuite and ZoneBilling.
- Translate customized customer agreements and license changes into accurate, well-documented, defensible billing outcomes.
- Investigate recurring billing errors and credit memos to resolve underlying data, configuration, and process issues.
- Strengthen alignment between Salesforce, provisioned license counts, NetSuite, and subscription billing to reduce manual re-entry.
- Act as senior escalation point and subject-matter expert for complex billing arrangements, contract structures, and disputes.
- Build and deliver a prioritized improvement roadmap with clear ownership and measurable outcomes.
- Implement solutions to improve data and systems while also developing longer-term capabilities.
- Bring structure and documentation to processes that rely on individual knowledge, strengthening controls and contracting guardrails for reliable billing.
- Partner with Finance, RevOps, and implementation partners on systems integration, automation, and AI-enabled improvements to reduce manual work.
- Coordinate dependencies across Sales, Legal, Revenue Operations, Customer Success, and Finance to resolve blockers.
- Improve invoice clarity, billing support, and the speed of dispute resolution.
- Establish a consistent global collections framework, including cadences, escalation paths, dispute-resolution SLAs, and monthly governance reviews.
- Reduce aging receivables, days sales outstanding (DSO), and variability in collections performance across regions.
- Expand customer self-service and increase auto-pay enrollment.
- Assess team capability, coach a distributed global team, and raise performance through clear expectations and culturally aware leadership.
- Set and manage a KPI framework covering billing accuracy, credit memo rate, DSO by region, first-response times, and auto-pay enrollment.
- Provide Finance leadership with visibility into progress, risks, and priorities.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive SaaS billing and revenue operations experience, including substantial dedicated billing ownership and leadership of distributed teams.
- Experience billing customized SaaS agreements, including variations in contract terms, license counts, and customer arrangements.
- Deep, hands-on NetSuite expertise across subscriptions, invoicing, revenue schedules, and customer records.
- Track record building or transforming billing and Order to Cash functions in complex, high-volume, multi-entity, multi-currency environments.
- Demonstrated ability to reduce billing errors, credit memo volume, and DSO through root-cause analysis and lasting process and systems fixes.
- Ability to independently assess an operation, define a roadmap, and deliver improvements.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills and credibility to secure cooperation across teams.
- Hands-on people leadership experience, including assessing team capability and making changes to improve performance.
- Familiarity with and interest in automation and AI-enabled tools to address operational challenges.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ZoneBilling or a comparable subscription billing platform.
- Experience with Salesforce integrations.
- Experience with multi-jurisdiction billing and tax (US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand).
- Experience in a startup or scale-up environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: $160,000–$200,000 (DOE)
