Overview

Experienced Bookkeeper & Payroll Specialist sought to manage bookkeeping and payroll for multiple clients in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and proficiency in both accounting and payroll processing.

Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly bookkeeping activities for multiple business clients, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and categorized.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations to verify account accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Review and properly categorize financial transactions to maintain clean, organized records.
  • Maintain and update Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable ledgers, ensuring timely collections and payments.
  • Review Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify, research, and resolve accounting discrepancies independently, ensuring data integrity.
  • Complete month-end closing procedures and prepare detailed financial reports for review.
  • Process payroll on a weekly, biweekly, and monthly basis, managing changes, bonuses, deductions, and reimbursements accurately.
  • Review and ensure compliance with payroll tax filings, including W-2s and quarterly reports.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, providing support and clarification as needed.

Requirements

  • At least two years of practical bookkeeping and accounting experience, with a proven track record managing multiple clients.
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
  • Extensive payroll processing experience.
  • Solid understanding of Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheet accounts.
  • Experience performing reconciliations and month-end closes.
  • Knowledge of payroll taxes and reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with payroll platforms such as ADP and Gusto (highly valued).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills to manage deadlines and liaise professionally with clients.
  • Experience working within an accounting or tax advisory firm (preferred).
  • CPA designation or similar professional credentials (highly advantageous).
