Overview

A hospitality accounting firm is seeking a Bookkeeping Specialist for a long-term remote position. This role involves working 30-35 hours per week (6-7 hours per day), primarily between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Central Time. The position requires full commitment as the primary employment, with no full-time work elsewhere.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a growing portfolio of client accounts with a sense of ownership
  • Engage actively in learning, updating, and improving accounting processes
  • Perform data entry for daily accounting operations
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Reconcile payroll
  • Handle revenue recognition and extract point-of-sale data
  • Communicate with clients to answer accounting procedural questions
  • Calculate and enter month-end accruals and adjusting entries
  • Update documentation of processes and conduct quarterly process reviews
  • Maintain timely and professional client communication
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High attention to detail and strong customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and excellent written and verbal communication
  • Problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new software
  • Proficient with technology, including Microsoft Office / 365
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a dedicated secure internet connection
  • Professional and friendly interaction with clients via video and audio tools
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Must reside in the United States or Canada
  • Availability to travel to semi-annual in-person team retreats (for supervisors and/or full-time employees); locations vary

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly wage: $19-20 per hour
  • Work schedule: 30-35 hours per week after training/probation (6-7 hours per day)
  • Expected availability primarily between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Central Time during business days
