Overview
A hospitality accounting firm is seeking a Bookkeeping Specialist for a long-term remote position. This role involves working 30-35 hours per week (6-7 hours per day), primarily between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Central Time. The position requires full commitment as the primary employment, with no full-time work elsewhere.
Responsibilities
- Manage a growing portfolio of client accounts with a sense of ownership
- Engage actively in learning, updating, and improving accounting processes
- Perform data entry for daily accounting operations
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Reconcile payroll
- Handle revenue recognition and extract point-of-sale data
- Communicate with clients to answer accounting procedural questions
- Calculate and enter month-end accruals and adjusting entries
- Update documentation of processes and conduct quarterly process reviews
- Maintain timely and professional client communication
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High attention to detail and strong customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and excellent written and verbal communication
- Problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new software
- Proficient with technology, including Microsoft Office / 365
- Must have or be willing to obtain a dedicated secure internet connection
- Professional and friendly interaction with clients via video and audio tools
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Must reside in the United States or Canada
- Availability to travel to semi-annual in-person team retreats (for supervisors and/or full-time employees); locations vary

Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly wage: $19-20 per hour
- Work schedule: 30-35 hours per week after training/probation (6-7 hours per day)
- Expected availability primarily between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Central Time during business days
