Overview

This role involves accurately entering all clinical charges into the practice management system to ensure timely and compliant claim submission. The position supports a multi-specialty environment with a primary focus on Workers’ Compensation. Responsibilities include ensuring correct coding, proper modifier usage, accurate paper selection, and thorough validation of supporting documentation to contribute directly to clean claim rates, reduced denials, and optimized revenue capture.

This is a remote position available only to candidates located in AZ, CA, NM, NV, OR, TX, and WA.

Responsibilities

  • Enter daily charges accurately within the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
  • Ensure charges comply with state-specific Workers’ Compensation fee schedules and reporting guidelines
  • Validate completeness of all required clinical documentation (progress notes, therapy logs, treatment plans, authorizations) prior to charge entry
  • Capture correct CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes based on provider documentation and coding guidance
  • Assign appropriate modifiers (e.g., GP, GO, 25, 59, KX) according to service type and payer requirements
  • Verify accuracy of rendering provider, location, place of service (POS), and billing provider information
  • Validate insurance coverage and authorization requirements for commercial payers before posting charges
  • Collaborate with the operations team to resolve missing or incomplete documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on organizational needs

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of charge posting or billing experience in a healthcare organization
  • Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 coding, and modifier usage
  • Ability to read and interpret clinical documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to work independently and meet productivity expectations in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior experience in a multi-state Workers’ Compensation billing environment
  • Experience with multiple EHR/Practice Management systems such as IMS, Nextgen, Athena, eClinicalWorks, or similar
  • Basic understanding of NCCI edits and payer-specific billing guidelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables) and solid skills in other Microsoft Office applications

  • Must reside in AZ, CA, NM, NV, OR, TX, or WA
  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
