Overview
A company in the cloud security industry is seeking a Commissions Accountant to manage the global commissions accounting process and ensure compliance with ASC 606. The organization serves hundreds of customers worldwide, including over half of the Fortune 100, securing and scanning billions of files daily. This role supports revenue operations by overseeing commissions calculation and reporting, contributing to accurate financial processes related to variable compensation.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end commissions accounting, including monthly accruals, capitalization, amortization, and reporting in accordance with ASC 606 and US GAAP
- Calculate, validate, and report commissions and variable compensation for the global sales team
- Collaborate with Sales Operations, Payroll, FP&A, and Revenue Accounting to ensure timely and accurate commission payments
- Support implementation, optimization, and maintenance of commission systems such as Spiff, Xactly, or CaptivateIQ
- Provide documentation and analysis for audits related to commissions and bonus accruals
- Ensure compliance with controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements for commissions processes
- Interpret accounting guidance for new compensation plans, SPIFFs, or plan changes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant accounting or commissions operations experience
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP (ASC 606), commission capitalization, and SaaS industry practices
- Experience in a high-growth tech or SaaS environment
- Proficiency with NetSuite and commission platforms such as Spiff, Xactly, or CaptivateIQ is a strong advantage
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Office/Google Suite
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and proactive approach
- High standards of accuracy and precision
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base salary range: $102,000—$141,000 USD
- Starting compensation determined by experience, skills, and geographic location
