Overview
This role involves working as an experienced Equity Research professional on a contract basis to serve as a domain expert in designing, testing, and improving generative AI tools for financial analysis. The position focuses on applying real-world equity research expertise to help shape AI systems capable of reasoning about companies, industries, financial statements, and valuation frameworks at a professional level. This is a flexible, largely remote opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality equity research outputs to train and evaluate AI systems, including:
- Company and sector analyses
- Earnings forecasts and scenario analysis
- Valuation models such as DCF, trading comparables, and precedent transactions
- Investment theses with clearly articulated risks and catalysts
- Build and review financial models adhering to industry best practices and sound analytical judgment
- Clearly articulate and break down analytical processes into structured reasoning understandable by AI systems
- Respond to questions regarding analytical thinking and research outputs
- Evaluate AI-generated research for financial accuracy, logical consistency, professional tone and structure, and data completeness
- Provide feedback to improve AI model performance, robustness, and realism
- Collaborate asynchronously with research, product, and engineering teams to refine workflows and expectations
Requirements
- 3-7 years of experience in equity research, asset management, hedge funds, or related investment roles
- Strong expertise in:
- Financial statement analysis
- Forecasting and valuation methodologies
- Industry and company-level research frameworks
- Ability to clearly articulate investment logic, assumptions, and trade-offs
- High standards for analytical rigor, accuracy, and presentation
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, project-based environment
- Interest in the intersection of finance and AI and translating expert judgment into intelligent systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience writing published equity research or internal investment memos
- Exposure to multiple sectors or global markets
- Familiarity with how investors consume and act on research
- Curiosity about AI model behavior, edge cases, and failure modes in analytical reasoning
- Experience working with generative AI and understanding its practical applications
