Overview

A nonprofit network dedicated to improving the lives of seniors is seeking a Senior Accountant to support all aspects of the General Ledger, financial statement preparation, and reporting. This is a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and reconcile complex financial data ensuring compliance with regulations and accounting procedures.
  • Review accounting, internal controls, and departmental procedures to improve compliance, efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Identify trends or anomalies in accounting transactions; address issues within scope and escalate others; prepare reports and act as an internal consultant for complex accounting matters.
  • Assist with compliance activities including tax filing preparation and cost report preparation.
  • Manage month-end close activities, including creating financial reports and budget-to-actual analyses.
  • Track, coordinate, and post journal entries during month-end close, ensuring proper segregation of duties and approvals.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned facilities.
  • Prepare materials for internal and external audiences such as auditors, tax returns, and regulatory agencies, including reports, analyses, and supporting schedules.
  • Serve as the main accounting contact and provide support to the executive director and department heads of assigned facilities.
  • Monitor and analyze departmental work to develop more efficient procedures while maintaining accuracy.
  • Perform general payroll functions as needed.
  • Manage fixed assets as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and relevant regulations.
  • Experience with multi-state tax accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial processes including audit preparation, budgeting, and reporting.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a public accountant strongly preferred.
  • CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • Healthcare industry knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with Workday is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $70,000 to $85,000 depending on experience; up to $90,000 if CPA.
