Overview
This role involves conducting audits and desk reviews of Medicare Cost Reports in compliance with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations. The Cost Report Auditor ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial and statistical data submitted by healthcare providers, supporting the effective use of U.S. tax dollars within the Medicare program. The position upholds government auditing standards and promotes cost-effective healthcare delivery.
Responsibilities
- Perform audits and desk reviews using the Uniform Desk Review/Audit Program, meeting interim and monthly production goals.
- Prepare audit adjustment reports and detailed work papers in accordance with Government Auditing Standards and CMS requirements.
- Analyze financial and statistical data, including expenses and revenues, to assess reasonableness and regulatory compliance.
- Review provider pricing policies for consistency and examine statistical data for proper cost allocation.
- Participate in work groups to improve work paper guidelines, auditing techniques, and documentation standards.
- Communicate with providers to explain audit findings, provide supporting documentation, and clarify applicable regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent post-secondary education and/or relevant work experience.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of CMS Medicare Cost Reporting requirements and Government Auditing Standards.
- Experience with audit methodologies, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance.

Remote Work Requirements

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $47,000 - $51,000, based on knowledge, skills, and experience.
