Overview
This director-level role supports public credit investment strategies within the US Bank sector through thorough credit analysis and investment recommendations. The position is based in Newport Beach, CA, with remote work options available depending on geographic location. Relocation assistance is provided.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive fundamental credit research on investment-grade and high-yield corporate credits within the US Bank sector to assess creditworthiness and investment potential.
- Develop and present buy, sell, or hold recommendations for inclusion in the organization’s general account, supporting investment objectives and risk management standards.
- Analyze regional banks and financial institutions, including business models, regulatory environment, and market positioning, to inform investment decisions.
- Collaborate with senior bank analysts, portfolio managers, and credit teams to identify and capitalize on attractive investment opportunities.
- Maintain relationships with sell-side analysts, credit rating agencies, and other industry information providers to stay current on market developments and credit trends.
- Monitor macroeconomic factors, industry trends, and regulatory changes that may impact credit quality of portfolio investments.
- Prepare detailed research reports, presentations, and memos to communicate findings and support strategic investment choices.
Requirements
- Over 7 years of investment research experience.
- At least 2 years dedicated to analyzing the US Bank sector.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical capabilities, including financial modeling and business strategy assessment.
- Solid understanding of bank regulation, capital requirements, and financial markets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with financial databases like Bloomberg is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate complex credit analysis clearly and concisely.
