Overview
This role involves prescreening and underwriting loan requests related to commercial real estate and commercial and industrial transactions. The position requires recommending the approval and structure of proposed loans based on analysis of financial statements, tax returns, and other relevant financial information.
Responsibilities
- Manage and complete assignments efficiently in a high production environment, meeting service level agreements and turnaround time targets without sacrificing quality.
- Review borrower financial statements, tax returns, and other financial data to perform cash flow and reserve analyses.
- Analyze leases, rent rolls, and operating statements for multi-family and commercial investment properties; compare property occupancy and net operating income to market comparables; develop pro-forma cash flow statements.
- Review title reports, appraisals, environmental site assessments, physical condition reports, and other third-party reports related to commercial properties offered as collateral.
- Assess location, physical condition, economic/investment viability, management quality, and marketability of commercial real estate collateral.
- Review receivables aging reports, inventory reports, equipment valuations, and other documentation critical to commercial and industrial loan analysis.
- Assist in ongoing covenant monitoring of commercial real estate and commercial and industrial loans, including monitoring borrowing bases and approving draws on asset-based lines of credit.
- Review borrower organizational documents, credit reports, and other documentation essential for credit analysis.
- Independently develop rationale for recommending loan approval or decline.
- Prepare written credit workbooks including household summaries, loan summaries, transaction explanations, project and global cash flow analyses, guarantor analyses, and credit recommendations.
- Conduct periodic and scheduled reviews of loans and loan relationships in accordance with bank policy.
- Assist loan officers in collecting updated tax returns, financial statements, and other documentation required annually or for new loan underwriting.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial loan underwriting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong decision-making skills and sensitivity when handling confidential information.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of standard office equipment including computer, ten-key adding machine, typewriter, fax machine, scanner, and copier.
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret documents.
- Ability to operate a keyboard as required.
- Ability to travel if necessary.
- Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required; accommodations will be made if lifting causes undue hardship.
