Overview
This role is based in the main office located in South Easton, MA. The Senior Commercial Credit Analyst is responsible for analyzing credit information to support credit decisions for current and potential commercial borrowers across a variety of diversified loan products.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and spread financial statements; present credit recommendations verbally and in writing.
- Collaborate directly with Commercial Lenders to prepare approval memos, renewal requests, and loan modifications of high complexity with minimal oversight.
- Assist in protecting the asset quality of the commercial loan portfolio by preparing annual reviews of complex commercial relationships.
- Maintain tickler systems within the Loan Origination platform to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
- Monitor requests for and receipt of all borrowers' financial statements.
- Order, receive, track, and review appraisals and environmental reports.
- Prepare various standard reports consistently and on an as-needed basis; provide suggestions for report enhancements.
- Prepare quarterly credit history comments summarizing loans as needed.
- Deliver high levels of service and responsiveness to customers.
- Perform all duties in compliance with regulatory guidelines, established policies, strategies, and procedures.
- Mentor and train junior team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Three to five years of direct commercial credit analysis experience with formal credit training.
- Proven ability to complete complex credit analyses independently with minimal corrections.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with financial spreading software, commercial software applications, and banking core data platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a team-oriented environment with a strong customer service focus and meet deadlines.
- Professional interaction with customers, handling sensitive inquiries or complaints tactfully.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including interpreting complex documents and calculating financial figures such as discount rates, interest rates, commissions, proportions, percentages, and ratios.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and federal tax reporting.
- Critical thinking skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Demands
- Office-based position requiring the ability to operate fingers and hands for typing, writing, and filing.
- Ability to move throughout the office and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to see and hear in a typical office environment.
- Occasionally required to transport items weighing up to 20 pounds.
