Overview

A leading mergers and acquisitions advisory firm specializing in infrastructure, renewables, and energy transition is seeking a Director to join their financial modeling sub-practice within the Financial Advisory group. This role involves providing expert financial modeling leadership on complex deals, advising clients, and developing team members while setting high standards for modeling quality and strategic insight.

Responsibilities

  • Own financial modeling standards and ensure delivery of defensible, decision-ready models across multiple engagements.
  • Lead through ambiguity by applying judgment and setting direction when data or assumptions are unclear.
  • Manage multiple deals simultaneously, balancing quality, risk, and timelines.
  • Coach and mentor senior team members, promoting continuous improvement within the function.
  • Oversee development and review of complex financial models including cash flow modeling, scenario analysis, and valuation outputs.
  • Partner with senior client stakeholders to understand transaction objectives and translate them into robust financial models.
  • Lead deal and advisory engagements across sectors, contributing modeling insights to client deliverables and presentations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to refine methodologies, assumptions, and modeling approaches.
  • Continuously enhance modeling methodologies to reflect evolving market practices, regulatory considerations, and sector-specific dynamics.
  • Establish and implement best practices, templates, and quality standards for financial modeling.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Vice Presidents and Senior Associates within the financial modeling team.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in financial modeling, transaction advisory, consulting, or related analytical roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • CPA, CFA, or formal financial modeling training is an asset.
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex financial outputs into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Deep expertise in valuation methodologies, financial analysis, and transaction modeling.
  • Strong learning mindset with adaptability to operate in fast-paced, evolving consulting, advisory, or investment environments.
  • Ability to travel within Canada and the USA.
