Overview

The organization is seeking a Director of Financial Modeling to lead the development, improvement, and maintenance of complex financial models supporting operations across Texas and non-Texas regions. This role involves close collaboration with senior internal leaders and external stakeholders to execute the strategic financial vision for a growing educational organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and maintenance of long-term financial models for existing and new regions based on strategic plans and expansion efforts.
  • Develop financial models for new regions under consideration, incorporating factors such as governance, authorizer conditions, political environment, and philanthropic support.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on financial modeling, partnering with senior leaders on special projects to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the financial planning team to align model outcomes with annual budgeting and proforma processes.
  • Train internal stakeholders on the purposes and outcomes of regional financial models.
  • Drive the development of key financial inputs based on regional regulatory and funding environments.
  • Partner strategically with Human Assets to develop staffing and compensation models for long-term financial projections; collaborate with other departments to vet and align financial inputs.
  • Assess new regions for financial viability and advise senior leaders on expansion plans.
  • Represent financial projections in key funder and board meetings related to new region expansion.
  • Evaluate existing financial model structures and identify areas for strategic improvement.
  • Develop and update modeling methodologies based on industry best practices and integrate them across all regions.
  • Educate stakeholders on methodology improvements, including approach, rationale, and impact.
  • Partner with Software Development and Financial Planning and Analysis teams to upgrade dashboards by incorporating financial modeling outputs.
  • Maintain updated financial modeling information in dashboards.
  • Manage and evolve the existing growth tracker into a new custom software solution.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public/non-profit administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or higher in business administration, public/non-profit administration, accounting, finance, economics, or related field.

Physical Requirements

  • This is a sedentary position.
  • Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $108,100 to $128,600, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Location

  • This is a full-time remote position based in Texas.
  • Preference given to candidates residing in or willing to relocate to Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, or Tarrant County (Fort Worth).

Travel

  • Up to 20% travel during peak periods.
