Overview
An international humanitarian organization is seeking an Expert Emergency Response - Finance (Part-time 60%) to support and strengthen humanitarian operations through the development, coordination, and implementation of emergency response interventions in fragile and crisis-affected contexts. This role focuses on ensuring high-quality humanitarian programming across the full project cycle, with an emphasis on administration and finance, while maintaining compliance with donor requirements and organizational standards.
This position is home-based with international deployments to emergency operation areas. The contract duration is until December 31, 2028.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the strategic development of the emergency response portfolio
- Manage and monitor project budgets, financial planning, and administrative processes in compliance with donor and organizational requirements
- Support country teams and partner organizations in finance, administration, compliance, and emergency response-related matters
- Conduct financial monitoring, reviews, and risk assessments to ensure accountability and proper use of funds
- Support the development of donor proposals, reports, and funding opportunities focusing on finance
- Represent the organization in relevant coordination forums, networks, and stakeholder meetings as required
- Design and facilitate trainings, workshops, and capacity-sharing activities related to emergency response, administration, and finance
- Collaborate closely with head office, country offices, and international partners in multicultural and challenging environments
- Maintain readiness for rapid emergency deployments within 48 hours and support field operations globally for up to 3 months when required
Requirements
- University degree in humanitarian assistance, international development, business administration, finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in humanitarian emergency response, preferably in fragile or conflict-affected contexts
- Proven experience in project cycle management, including budgeting, financial management, and donor compliance
- Experience working with institutional donors and managing grants in line with donor regulations and reporting requirements
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in dynamic environments
- Experience supporting or coordinating local partner organizations and working in multicultural and interdisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of security management, emergency preparedness, and rapid response mechanisms is an asset
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills to represent the organization in coordination forums and stakeholder meetings
- High flexibility and willingness to deploy globally on short notice, including field assignments of up to 3 months in challenging environments
- Eagerness to incorporate data-informed approaches into work
- Excellent command of English and French, both written and spoken; German and additional languages are advantageous
