Overview

A finance team is seeking a Finance Banking Specialist to manage financial data related to self-funded health and welfare plans. This fully remote role involves compiling, calculating, reconciling, and posting financial information to maintain client records and generate financial reports. The position supports daily finance team activities to meet quality and production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Process checks and ACH transactions for claims reimbursement payments
  • Prepare checks for deposit and close tasks upon completion
  • Post check deposits and payments accurately
  • Verify, monitor, and resolve funding and banking issues such as refunds, voided checks, and reissued checks
  • Monitor accounts receivable and manage over/short payments
  • Maintain department policies and procedures compliance
  • Perform record keeping including premium and claims reconciliations and related client reports
  • Collect and verify banking transaction information and coordinate posting entries
  • Compile and verify client ledgers and other financial reports
  • Maintain internal control systems such as check logs and banking account ledgers
  • Provide backup support and perform other duties as assigned
  • Deliver excellent customer service by following up promptly with internal and external customers and escalating issues appropriately
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews and audits of coworkers' work to ensure adherence to quality and procedural standards
  • Participate in staff and cross-departmental meetings to uphold financial standards
  • Serve on committees or process improvement teams to enhance quality and customer satisfaction
  • Identify and report trends outside quality parameters
  • Perform self-quality monitoring and develop plans to meet goals
  • Provide feedback to optimize quality performance
  • Develop or improve internal processes to enhance quality

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience
  • Ability to reconcile funding accounts and transactions
  • Prior bank reconciliation experience strongly preferred (e.g., business banking, treasury management, funds movement processes)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Basic bookkeeping knowledge
  • Proficient in 10-key and typing skills
  • Strong follow-up skills with ability to obtain proper review and approval
  • Analytical skills for problem resolution
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and above-average customer service skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, handle stress, and interact professionally
