Overview
The organization is seeking an Operations Finance Manager to serve as a finance partner to leaders running the manufacturing network. This role owns the financial picture for manufacturing sites and a third-party lab network, helping operators understand cost structure and identify opportunities.
This position is designed for someone who wants to be close to the physical business, with hands-on involvement in overhead absorption, cost per unit, and vendor economics. You will also be involved in key operational decisions, including equipment purchases, site openings or consolidations, and evaluating whether to bring work in-house.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Manufacturing Site Leads:
- Own the finance relationship with each site.
- Ensure site leads understand their budgets, what drives variances, and what they need to take action.
- Provide financial guidance before decisions are made.
- Partner with the 3P Labs team:
- Bring financial clarity to routing decisions.
- Build analysis that shows what each routing choice costs.
- Ensure trade-offs are understood in real time.
- Run the operations monthly close:
- Lead pre-close and prelim close meetings with site leads.
- Align in advance with Cost Accounting.
- Set clear expectations with meeting attendees.
- Drive follow-ups to completion.
- Ensure variance explanations are properly quantified and owned.
- Own the accuracy of manufacturing COGS:
- Perform expense detail review on fixed overhead COGS to confirm costs are booked correctly.
- Analyze third-party lab costs to validate routing.
- Run gold and precious metals margin analyses to confirm pricing aligns with markup targets.
- Improve processes each month:
- Treat each close cycle as an opportunity to reduce manual work, tighten timelines, and improve output quality.
- Support strategic decisions:
- Build the analysis behind manufacturing equipment purchases, manufacturing footprint decisions, and insource vs. outsource evaluations.
- Provide a point of view, not just a model.
Requirements
- 6+ years of finance experience, including meaningful time in a physical-product business in a high growth environment.
- Proven success partnering with operators: built strong relationships with operators and can translate between operational reality and financial impact.
- Strong ownership of recurring processes: experience running a close, forecast cycle, or reporting cadence and improving it.
- Advanced modeling skills: proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, comfort automating spreadsheet work with Claude Co-Work or other AI tools, and ability to work with large, messy datasets.
- Exceptional communication skills: ability to distill complex analysis into clear recommendations for an executive audience.
- Bias for action and comfort with ambiguity: willingness to advocate with senior stakeholders and push for the right answer.
