Overview

This role involves organizing financial information into useful views of actual performance, expected results, and the factors driving differences between plans and outcomes. Accuracy and clear communication are essential.

Financial models and schedules should remain understandable after the immediate task is complete, with clear labels, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas to support review and reduce the risk of unnoticed errors during future updates.

You may move between financial statements, spreadsheet schedules, operating metrics, and forecast assumptions within the same week. Across all work, calculations must be checked, assumptions must be clear, and conclusions must support decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
  • Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.

Requirements

  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
  • Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind a financial change.
  • Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.

Variance analysis should go beyond stating that a number is higher or lower. Where the information allows, you will help identify operational or financial drivers behind the movement and explain whether the difference appears temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.

Because this position is remote, dependable communication and self-management are required. You will be expected to organize your work, respond to reasonable requests for updates, and use shared digital tools in a way that keeps responsibilities visible and handoffs clear.
