Overview
This role is for a Financial Analyst supporting budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis of business performance. The position is designed for someone who can work carefully with financial information and clearly explain what the numbers mean in practical terms.
You will maintain financial models and schedules so they remain understandable after the immediate task is complete, with clear labels, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas that support review and reduce the risk of unnoticed errors.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
- Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
- Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
- Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
- Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods and explain meaningful variances.
Variance analysis should go beyond stating that a number is higher or lower. Where information allows, you will help identify operational or financial drivers behind movement and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or require further review.
Skills and Qualifications
- Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
- Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
- Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain drivers behind a financial change.
- Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
In addition, the ability to identify what changed, understand the assumptions behind results, and communicate implications without overstating what the information can prove is important to success.
