Overview
This position is a Financial Analyst supporting financial reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis. The role combines spreadsheet-based modeling with careful review of assumptions, calculations, variances, and financial trends—helping stakeholders understand what changed, why it changed, and why it matters.
- Location: Remote - United States
- Job Type: Full Time
- Compensation: $70,000-$78,000 per year
Responsibilities
- Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
- Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
- Improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
- Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
- Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
- Compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind financial change.
- Perform variance analysis beyond stating that a number is higher or lower; when information allows, help identify operational or financial drivers and determine whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
- Present assumptions clearly (especially when forecasting involves uncertainty) and share alternative scenarios when a single estimate could create a false sense of precision.
Requirements
- Clear written communication and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
- Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
- Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
- Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
- Ability to identify what changed, understand the assumptions behind the result, and communicate implications without overstating what the information can prove.
- Dependable communication and self-management in a remote setting, including organizing work, responding to reasonable requests for updates, and using shared digital tools to keep responsibilities and handoffs clear.
