Overview

This Financial Analyst role supports planning and informed decision-making through dependable financial analysis. You will maintain reports, compare actual results to expectations, and help communicate key performance drivers.

Forecasting involves uncertainty, so assumptions should be visible rather than embedded in calculations. When outcomes depend on variables that may change, you should be comfortable presenting alternative scenarios instead of implying false precision.

You will often begin analysis by identifying differences between plan and actual performance, then determining which accounts or operating factors contributed to the movement. You will verify underlying information and communicate results with appropriate context.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods; explain meaningful variances.
  • Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
  • Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
  • Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
  • Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
  • Go beyond stating whether numbers are higher or lower by identifying drivers behind financial movement when the information allows.
  • Help determine whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.

Requirements

  • Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind financial changes.
  • Comfort learning company-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
  • Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify what changed, understand the assumptions behind results, and communicate implications without overstating what the information can prove.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with financial analysis and financial modeling
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting
  • Data analysis skills and comfort working with financial statements
  • Scenario analysis experience
