Overview
This part-time Financial Assistant role in the Kern National Network supports the finance area by processing PCard transactions and reviewing financial and purchasing documents (including requisitions, purchase orders, and standing orders). The position is remote; however, all remote work must be performed within one of the organization’s registered payroll states: WI, AZ, DE, FL, GA, IN, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, TN, TX, and UT.
Target salary range: $19.75 - $23.85 per hour. Final pay will depend on education, experience, skills, and knowledge, as well as internal equity and market alignment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update financial and business transactions data; prepare reports to support accurate accounting records.
- Prepare, record, and verify information.
- Calculate, post, and process transactions and related clerical finance support.
- Perform routine accounting tasks.
- Enter and process PCard transactions, check requisitions, purchase orders, and standing purchase orders.
- Work with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to resolve purchasing issues.
- Organize and prepare reimbursement expense reports.
- Research and communicate with external suppliers to support purchasing processes.
- Assist with ordering office supplies and materials.
- Provide clerical support for the finance area.
- As assigned, complete purchasing-related forms (including contracting, event-related forms, non-salary cost transfers, etc.).
- Maintain related accounting files.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
Requirements
- Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.
- Minimum Required Education: High school diploma
- Minimum Required Experience: 2 years of experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of economics, accounting, mathematics, administration, English language, law, government, and human resources.
- Resource management, mathematics, problem solving, coordinating work activities, critical thinking, systems analysis, operations analysis, time management, writing, active listening, and active learning.
- Speech clarity, speech recognition, finger dexterity, and wrist-finger speed while operating computers.
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally lift moderate weight materials.
- Standing or walking continuously.
Work Environment
- Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids.
- Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.
Sensory Acuity
- Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication.
- May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
