Overview

A national law firm with offices in all 50 states is seeking a Financial Data Reporter for an immediate opening. This entry to mid-level position can be remote or hybrid, reporting to one of the firm's locations across the US. The primary responsibility is to review, prioritize, and respond to ad-hoc financial data inquiries from internal users by utilizing data warehouses, financial application tools, or simple SQL queries.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required, along with high computer literacy and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments with users of varying financial knowledge. The role demands efficiency under pressure, managing competing data requests, and maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Ad-Hoc Reporting & Data Inquiry Management

  • Review, prioritize, and fulfill ad-hoc financial data inquiries from internal users via a ticketing system promptly and accurately.
  • Extract, manipulate, and analyze data from core data warehouses and legal financial application tools.
  • Write and execute simple SQL queries to extract financial data sets for reporting.

Process Automation & Developer Collaboration

  • Identify opportunities for automated data reporting solutions based on recurring internal requests.
  • Collaborate with FinTech developers to design, test, and implement automated data-driven solutions for internal departments.
  • Assist in mapping data requirements and workflow logic to improve reporting delivery and data visibility.

Data Integrity & Cross-Departmental Support

  • Validate reporting outputs to ensure data integrity and maintain quality of reporting systems.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, readable formats such as spreadsheets, summaries, or basic presentations for users with varying financial expertise.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree preferred, ideally in accounting, business, finance, or mathematics; equivalent relevant work experience in accounting and/or legal fields will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated understanding or working knowledge of detailed financial data and modeling.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL, SSRS, and Teams is a strong plus.
  • Solid computer literacy with familiarity in MS Office Suite (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations).
  • Effective communication skills to interact with employees of diverse backgrounds and financial skill levels.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize data requests, problem-solve, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within teams or across departments.

Essential Functions

  • Efficient use of reporting software, database applications, and financial tools.
  • May require irregular hours and occasional overtime during month-end closing cycles or reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information to produce spreadsheets, ad-hoc data models, and reports with minimal errors.
  • Willingness and ability to coordinate with local teams or manage physical files as needed.
  • Capacity to sit for extended periods to perform data analysis, query writing, and reporting tasks.
  • Ability to use telephone or video conferencing tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams) for communication.
  • Clear and professional communication skills in person and remotely.
  • Ability to review and interpret database schemas, reports, documentation, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $55,000 to $70,000 per year, depending on skills, experience, and location.
