Overview

A general insurance company and its affiliated general agent are seeking a Financial Analyst to support financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis. This role offers hands-on experience with core financial processes, interaction with senior stakeholders, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze historical and current financial data to assess performance and identify key business drivers
  • Monitor actual results against budget and forecast, explaining variances and trends
  • Support monthly and quarterly forecasting processes including data collection, validation, and consolidation
  • Build, maintain, and improve financial models to aid forecasting and business decisions
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports and presentations for management
  • Assist in developing, tracking, and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks
  • Analyze financial and operational processes to identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities
  • Support tracking and reporting of operating and capital expenditures
  • Work with financial systems, databases, and data warehouses to extract, validate, and transform data
  • Collaborate with senior FP&A team members and cross-functional stakeholders on planning and analysis initiatives
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and automation of financial reporting and planning tools

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or related field
  • Progress toward CFA, CPA, or an advanced degree preferred
  • 1-3 years of financial analysis experience preferred; strong entry-level candidates will be considered
  • Property & casualty insurance experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles (STAT)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements and key performance drivers
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, including financial modeling and presentation development
  • Ability to work with large datasets and perform detailed analytical reviews
  • Familiarity with financial systems and planning tools; experience with Workday and Adaptive Planning preferred
  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and proactive in identifying issues and recommending solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly explain analyses and results
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience supporting state expansion or regulatory-driven initiatives in property & casualty insurance preferred
