Overview
This role focuses on the credit business within the organization’s GTM Finance function, partnering with Sales, Legal, Product, Credit Risk, and Capital Markets. You will model pricing, evaluate profitability, and structure credit deals that win business while protecting unit economics.
You will help build deal models and projections, run scenario analyses, and provide clear economic narratives to prospective partners and internal stakeholders. While the deal desk supports multiple product lines, credit will be the primary focus.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the financial partner to Sales on live credit deals by modeling the full economic stack, including:
- Interchange
- Finance charges
- Fees
- Rewards costs
- Cost of funds
- Expected losses
- Network fees
- Sponsor bank revenue share
- Build deal-level models that capture full life-of-portfolio economics, including how deal performance evolves as the portfolio matures (revolve behavior stabilizes and losses move along the curve).
- Partner with Credit Risk and Capital Markets to ensure deal models use realistic loss assumptions, funding costs, and capital efficiency considerations.
- Work with the credit function to build foundational credit product models, including monthly projections of volumes, receivables, payment rates, and loss curves with clearly defined assumptions tied to industry and internal data.
- Create scenario analyses to support acquiring new sponsor bank partnerships and capital providers (including warehouse facilities), with projections such as return-on-capital and portfolio performance scenarios.
- Model multi-party revenue share structures across program manager, sponsor bank, processor, and network, and stress-test revenue splits across different volume and performance tiers.
- Lead deal review meetings on credit deals with sales leadership, translating complex credit economics into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Build and continuously improve a credit-specific deal desk toolkit, including:
- Pricing benchmarks
- Loss-curve templates
- Capital-cost calculators
- Vintage performance models
- Dashboards that bring these together
- Support Sales in explaining credit economics to prospects, including fintech buyers building a second card program and commercial customers evaluating a credit product for the first time.
- Stay current on credit product evolution and regulatory developments (Reg Z, CFPB requirements, state usury) and incorporate competitive and regulatory insights into deal work.
- Collaborate with the broader deal desk team across debit, prepaid, and other product lines, flexing support as needed.
- Experiment with AI to speed up and improve credit deal modeling (e.g., automating portfolio projections, accelerating scenario analysis, and building internal tools that scale judgment across deals).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field—Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Math, or any discipline that built numerical fluency.
- 6–8 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, deal desk, pricing, credit product finance, or a related GTM finance function.
- Meaningful exposure to credit card or lending economics.
- Comfort across the credit economics stack, including understanding how interchange, finance charges, rewards funding, loss provisioning, and cost of funds combine into deal-level economics.
- Strong grasp of credit risk concepts such as vintage curves, charge-off rates, and revolve behavior.
- Proven partnership and team collaboration skills, including the ability to push back constructively and jump in during high-demand moments.
- Strong modeling ability with comfort working through ambiguity in the numbers.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- AI-curious mindset, with hands-on use of AI tools and an informed perspective on what is useful.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to turn complex deal economics into clear executive-ready summaries.
- Proactive approach with a bias toward improving processes.
- Advanced Excel; comfortable across Google Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience pricing or modeling credit card programs (issuer-side experience strongly preferred).
- Background at a credit card issuer, fintech with a credit product, BIN sponsor bank, or program manager.
- Familiarity with BIN sponsorship economics and direct bank partnership structures.
- Experience building financial models used to pitch sponsor banks and capital providers/warehouse lenders, including portfolio projections, return-on-capital analyses, and scenario modeling.
- Working knowledge of credit risk modeling concepts: expected loss, vintage analysis, behavioral scoring.
- Working knowledge of capital markets concepts relevant to credit card receivables: warehouse facilities, securitization, cost of funds.
- Familiarity with credit card regulatory framework (Reg Z, CFPB requirements, state usury considerations).
- SQL/data analytics experience, especially Snowflake.
- Hands-on experience building AI-enabled workflows or tools (custom GPTs, agents, automations, prompt engineering for finance use cases).
