Overview
This organization is seeking a hands-on Fractional CFO to take ownership of its finances end to end, including cash flow management, the monthly close, payments, tax, budgeting, projections, and credit facilities that fund growth. The role is fractional, approximately 1–2 days a week (as needed) and fully remote.
The business is currently $50M+ in annual revenue, scaling to $100M+, with a second brand recently launched.
Responsibilities
- Own cash management end to end, including weekly maintenance of a 13-week cash flow and identifying the cash trough.
- Manage the monthly close process with a bookkeeper; ensure books are accurate and closed on time each month.
- Run and oversee payments, including:
- contractor pay (twice a month)
- supplier and freight bills
- affiliate and creator payouts
- software and card expenses
- Ensure sales tax and corporate tax filings are accurate and submitted on time in coordination with a CPA.
- Build and maintain forecasting for subscriptions, subscription cohorts, and the cash conversion cycle; compare projections vs. actuals and flag deviations the week they appear.
- Own budgeting and fixed cost tracking (monthly fixed costs vs. budget).
- Manage credit and lender relationships, including growing credit lines and setting up or managing an asset-based lending facility so the next two quarters of purchase orders are funded.
- Implement and maintain financial controls:
- two-person approvals on every payment
- monthly reconciliations across accounts
- ensure the books are audit-ready
- Provide leadership reporting:
- present the cash picture to the weekly leadership meeting
- deliver a monthly finance report to the CEO
- Support entity structure and controls for new entities with guidance from the CPA.
- Manage currency exposure on supplier payments (RMB, USD, CAD).
- Maintain responsiveness to cash or payment issues even outside the set fractional days.
Outcomes (What Success Looks Like)
- Cash flow, subscriptions, and the cash conversion cycle are projected clearly with no surprises (projections vs. actuals; cash never below the minimum balance).
- Books are accurate and closed on time every month (no corrections needed after the P&L review with the CEO).
- Contractors, bills, and payouts are paid correctly and on time.
- Fixed costs stay within budget (monthly fixed costs vs. budget).
- Credit and capital are sufficient to fund growth (credit available vs. cash needed for the next two quarters of purchase orders).
- Money is controlled and the books are audit-ready (second approvals on payments; all accounts reconciled monthly).

- Capital and lending experience: set up or manage an inventory- or receivables-backed credit facility and maintain clean lender reporting.
- Tax and controls experience:
- sales tax experience alongside a CPA
