Overview
The organization is seeking a Head of Tax and Treasury to lead global tax and treasury functions. This role owns tax strategy, reporting, and compliance; cash and liquidity management; banking and investments; and the team, controls, and systems needed to support a rapidly scaling marketplace.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical judgment with a builder mindset, partnering across Finance, Payments, Legal, Product, and Engineering to manage risk, improve capital efficiency, and build infrastructure that scales with new products and markets.
Responsibilities
- Own global tax strategy, reporting, and compliance.
- Lead treasury functions including cash and liquidity management.
- Manage banking relationships and investments.
- Oversee foreign exchange risk and intercompany funding.
- Build and scale teams, controls, and processes to support growth.
- Partner cross-functionally to manage risk and improve capital efficiency.
- Support international expansion, including M&A, financing transactions, and complex legal entity structures.
Requirements
- 12+ years of progressive corporate tax, treasury, or finance leadership, including meaningful ownership of both global tax and treasury in a multinational business.
- Deep expertise in ASC 740, U.S. corporate and international tax, transfer pricing, indirect tax, and global tax compliance and reporting.
- Hands-on experience leading liquidity planning, cash forecasting, investments, banking relationships, foreign exchange risk, and intercompany funding.
- Public accounting experience (ideally Big 4) plus in-house experience at a high-growth technology, marketplace, payments, or e-commerce company.
- Experience supporting international expansion, M&A, financing transactions, and complex legal entity structures.
- Proven success building teams, systems, controls, and processes in a fast-changing environment, with strong executive communication and influence.
- Strong ownership mindset; comfortable moving quickly, working through ambiguity, and acting hands-on when needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA, MST, CTP, JD, or another relevant advanced credential strongly preferred.

- Experience questioning an existing approach and building something better rather than copying prior work.
- Ownership of outcomes end-to-end (not limited to narrow tasks).
- Willingness to step outside responsibilities to solve problems because they need to be solved.
- Familiarity with the product as a buyer or seller and ability to speak to the product with real context.

This role offers flexibility to work from home or from one of the organization’s global office hubs.
Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of the San Francisco, Los Angeles, or New York City hub.
