Overview
A technology-driven mortgage servicing and consumer direct lending organization is seeking a Senior Default Associate to join their Default Administration team. The team manages default-related processes to resolve mortgage loans in default, aiming to prevent foreclosures and minimize investor losses while supporting homeowners.
Responsibilities
Invoice Management
- Process and manage vendor invoices and payments related to delinquency and default, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Verify invoice accuracy and adherence to guidelines from Investors, Insurers, and Agencies (e.g., Freddie Mac, FNMA, FHA, VA, RHS).
- Record financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording invoice data.
- Assist internal departments and third-party vendors in resolving invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
- Issue, track, and monitor billbacks to vendors for expenses exceeding allowable limits.
Corporate Advances
- Oversee offshore vendor activities, monitor work progress, and ensure timely completion, including issuing vendor scorecards.
- Review and reconcile prior servicer corporate advance data files, ensuring correct mapping to loans and accounts with supporting documentation.
- Reconcile onboarded corporate advances and collaborate with onboarding teams and system engineers to resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate with offshore staff to ensure receipt of invoices and backup documents from prior servicers.
- Review and reconcile corporate advance data for offboarding loans and provide accurate reports to the offboarding team.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to automate and manage corporate advance and invoice management processes.
- Coordinate with internal and external business partners.
- Work with prior servicers and internal departments to map corporate advances to the system of record for acquisitions.
- Facilitate and respond to audit and client requests related to invoices and corporate advances.
- Provide monthly management business review (MBR) and trending reports.
- Escalate problems and compliance issues promptly.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in invoice management, corporate advance management, or default accounting.
- Proven ability to develop and manage complex processes involving multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Product and Engineering teams.
- Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including V-lookup.
- Minimum education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
