Overview

An established mortgage lending organization is seeking an experienced Lending Product & Credit Policy Analyst to manage and develop lending product guidelines and research new product offerings. This role focuses on maintaining compliance with investor and secondary market guidelines while ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop product lending guidelines and matrices, including designing, testing, and updating lending criteria such as loan-to-value (LTV), credit score thresholds, and debt-to-income (DTI) limits
  • Organize and coordinate the launch of new lending products while maintaining adherence to investor or secondary market guidelines
  • Provide product assessments and comparisons
  • Maintain investor guidelines and communicate changes to internal teams
  • Poll investors for guideline clarifications
  • Review "Ask the UW" questions and exception queues for first-level responses
  • Act as a liaison between sales, underwriting, compliance, and secondary markets to ensure seamless rollout of program changes

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must reside in the United States
  • 2-3 years of experience in mortgage lending product development, credit risk, policy analysis, or secondary marketing
  • Underwriting experience is a plus
  • Deep understanding of the mortgage industry, including market trends and regulatory requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of agency and investor underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Proven ability to manage project timelines and work with cross-functional teams
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data modeling and exception tracking
  • Familiarity with Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and policy management platforms
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills
  • Excellent organization, follow-through, time management, and attention to detail
  • Dependable with good judgment and strong phone skills to build rapport with customers
