Overview
A rapidly growing technology organization is seeking a Manager of Indirect Tax to lead indirect tax compliance and strategy across U.S. sales and use tax as well as global VAT/GST obligations. This role involves ownership of the indirect tax function, partnering closely with Accounting, Revenue, Legal, and Billing Engineering teams, and building scalable processes to support a fast-growing public company.
This is a full-time position available at U.S. hub offices or remotely within the United States.
Responsibilities
- Manage indirect tax compliance including U.S. sales and use tax filings and foreign VAT/GST obligations
- Coordinate with external advisors on indirect tax matters
- Monitor nexus exposure, taxability rules, and regulatory developments across jurisdictions to ensure compliance and mitigate risk
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, Revenue, Legal, and Billing Engineering to ensure tax requirements are accurately reflected in billing systems, product offerings, and operational processes
- Manage indirect tax audits, notices, and inquiries, coordinating documentation and responses with internal teams and external advisors
- Lead process improvements and implement scalable solutions such as tax engines and automation tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tax reporting
- Oversee and develop a Senior Tax Analyst, ensuring high standards in compliance and operational activities
- Strengthen internal controls and support SOX compliance related to indirect tax processes and reporting
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of experience in indirect tax within public accounting and/or industry environments
- Deep knowledge of U.S. sales and use tax, including multi-state compliance, nexus analysis, audits, and exemption management
- Working knowledge of global indirect tax regimes (VAT/GST) and experience coordinating compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Strong understanding of SOX controls and experience operating within a public company or similarly complex environment
- Proven ability to manage or mentor others and collaborate effectively with external advisors
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in SaaS, technology, or other high-growth environments
- CPA certification or Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as NetSuite or SAP and tax engines like Avalara or Vertex
- Exposure to M&A transactions including due diligence and integration from an indirect tax perspective
- Interest or experience in improving tax processes through automation, analytics, or AI-driven tools
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base salary range: $169,000 to $296,000 USD (salary may be adjusted based on work location and other factors)

This role can be based at one of the U.S. hub offices or performed remotely within the United States.
