Overview
This role involves managing and executing internal controls essential for compliance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements, focusing on payroll and accounts payable processes. The position requires partnering with accounting and treasury teams, supervising staff, and leading process improvements and system integrations.
Responsibilities
- Execute internal controls to ensure SOX compliance
- Identify and implement process improvements for payroll and procure-to-pay cycles
- Collaborate with Accounting to ensure accurate expense coding
- Monitor and respond to internal and external inquiries professionally and timely
- Supervise and develop team members through task assignment, performance monitoring, coaching, and feedback
- Understand integrations between ADP SmartCompliance Payment Solutions, tax filing, travel, expense and invoice management software (SAP Concur), and ERP systems (PeopleSoft)
- Work with Treasury to initiate wire transfers
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Manage end-to-end AP processes including invoice processing, payment approvals, and vendor communications
- Maintain strong internal controls and efficient processes related to vendor maintenance, invoice and expense report processing, travel, and disbursements
- Lead procure-to-pay projects such as new software implementations and integration of acquired companies
- Review daily extracted invoices to validate approvals
- Reconcile vendor statements regularly to identify and correct discrepancies
- Generate reports on AP metrics including outstanding balances, payment trends, and vendor performance
- Collaborate with Treasury, Finance, Operations, and cross-functional teams to align AP processes and facilitate financial system integrations
- Manage the Corporate Purchasing Card Program
- Ensure accurate and timely payments
Payroll
- Manage end-to-end payroll processes including reconciliation to source documents and quality checks
- Oversee timekeeping and paid time off modules
- Lead quarterly and year-end tax and W2 balancing processes
- Maintain strong internal controls and efficient payroll processing policies
- Lead payroll projects including software implementations and integration of acquired companies
- Identify operational issues and inefficiencies proactively
- Generate payroll reports for Human Resources, Accounting, and FP&A teams
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive payroll experience with managerial responsibilities; accounts payable experience preferred
- Understanding of payroll and accounts payable principles, GAAP, and internal controls
- Advanced math and analytical skills
- Experience automating processes, implementing internal controls, and documenting policies
- Flexibility in working hours, especially during deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Energetic, hands-on leadership with team development experience
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills for interacting with all organizational levels and external vendors
- Adaptability to changing priorities and responsibilities
- Confidence in enforcing policy compliance across the organization
- Experience in a public company or SOX-compliant environment
- Experience leading system migrations
- Proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace
Preferred Qualifications
- College degree with emphasis in Finance or Accounting
- Experience with PeopleSoft Financial System, SAP Concur, Workday, and ADP
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
